Re: Berried shrimp or fat?

Thanks, I'll keep an eye out, I've seen at least 3 moults in the last week, so I was hoping to have seen eggs under a tail of one of them but I'm wondering if I've beaten the odds and had 0 males in the 5 shrimp I have.. I started with 6 and one died after a water change (I think too big a water cha...

Berried shrimp or fat?

I've not kept shrimp for long, less than a month but I'm trying to tell if I have a mix of male and female (hopefully)...
Would you say this one is berried or just looks fatter than the others?

Re: New light or new tank?

Throw the sofa out and by a 8x2x2 tank and a bean bag to sit on. :D You may be onto something! We have actually got an under-the-stairs sofa which doesnt get used and isn't really that great - that's in the way of the extra half foot on the other side. If that wasnt there I could go to 4ft but woul...

Re: Alder cones etc

Sorry for a double post, but how many alder cones should I add to my 40L tank? Is there a limit? Will too many change the parameters too much and be a problem at water changes?

Re: Ammonia level reading help!!

I'd go every other day with ammonia so you can see if the nitrite munchers have done much.

Also may be possible the nitrite munchers are slowing down due to too much ammonia or nitrite, but someone else may be able to confirm/deny
Hopefully they catch up again soon!

Re: Alder cones etc

These were from what we call 'pocket park' The tree I got these from is the other side of a playing field from a road There was another tree though not as fruitful, just hanging over a pond which is more in the middle of the park. I'll give them a wash and plunge but not boil then? And as for any mo...
