As above, do they aid oxygenation in any way or can I remove them and stop having to go to the loo every 30 minutes?

Not from what I have read!
Considered them for my tanks until their aggressiveness (fin nipping and sucking mucus off fish) was outlined in an article.
They also get large but don't know what you are keeping them in.
Others may be able to offer better advice but I avoided them.

Can people please put links in this thread!!! @Stephen It seems to be a generic one but is (I believe) the same as the AllPondSolutions 1400L one, just re-branded.
