Yeah, I thought the plastic filter cap would stop them getting through but I guess she was just thin enough. Guess I'll have to use the net in future.

She's stopped swimming and there's no movement in the gills. Netted her and no response to light or to touch. I think she got too cold too fast. Damn. just damn.

Cherry barb went in the snow, anything I can do to help?

Was doing a big change on the barb tank. barb slipped through the platic cover of the hose and went down the hose onto snowy gravel. Took me a minute or two to get her back into the tank. Anything I can do to help her recovery or is it hopeless?

She's listing a bit and struggling to swim right now

Re: Return of the SPACK - Tank Log

It's about a penny sized piece plus a couple of fragments. I'd put the hardness change down to the cuttle bone, but it's come back down to 7 so I'm going to assume I just did the test wrong with drips that were too small.

Re: Tank tops

6mm acrylic, although it needs replacing because it's got sharp edges and it's scratched to hell.

Re: Return of the SPACK - Tank Log

Well last evening had some drama. Mrs Lick noticed that the tank was making a gurgling/bubbling noise. I'd been putting it down to the 'Farting' bogwood having been moved and the bubbles coming out differently but Mrs Lick was right, it was the filter. I'd put some coarse sponge in the filter intake...

Re: GH Spike

Hi itsashrimpthing,

What was the GH before? What about the tap water before and now?

How much egg shell do you add, how often and for how long?

Re: Return of the SPACK - Tank Log

New Residents that are difficult to photograph; 15 Amano shrimp and 2 Zebra Nerites. Seem to be settling in well. To make room for them I've had to move the assassins to the QT. and given it's a bare bottom tank with only a couple of plastic plants I'm stunned at how little I can see them. I need to...

Re: Return of the SPACK - Tank Log

So national shortage of Hydrogen Peroxide has delayed my algae treatment somewhat. But I have noticed a new behaviour. Unable to sleep during the night I came downstairs and, using a bluelight, I was checking to see how many baby plecs were out and about (still not seen more than one at a time). I t...

Re: Ammonia level reading help!!

Knock out is usually 9.5% when new. And slowly dips over time. so if you top the tank up to full it'd be about 1.2ml each time.
