Re: Lunar's new tank
Just realised I’d not updated this thread! I’d soaked the piece of wood for the best part of a month and it was still a little buoyant so I decided to just put it in and either weigh it down or wedge it in. Luckily it sat nicely under the glass and whilst held in, it’s not too tight so no real press...

Re: DIY Lighting
I don’t get why people want an Alexa or other controlled light… set it up on a timer and leave it to do its thing 😂 I say this pretty often but don’t go with RGB chips but WRGB and even then I don’t see a lot of improvement using them. Look back at some of my tank logs and you’ll see the best plant...

Re: DIY Lighting
As long as it's going to produce enough light and you won't electrocute yourself I don't see anything wrong with that. Plants grow well under standard household LEDs, there's little special about aquarium branded ones. Just to reiterate/clarify my earlier post, the LEDs available at the time didn’t...

Re: DIY Lighting
I’ve got my lights plugged into a couple of Alexa friendly Tapo plugs, I’m using T5 bulbs though and you’re talking about LEDs.
Did look a few years ago at LEDs like you’re thinking of but was never happy they produced the right amount of light for my plants.

Re: Stephen's new 425L SeaBray Elite tank log
Where are you ordering fish from if you don’t mind me asking? Thought about it before but have always been near several fish shops but curious to whether it would be worth it. Generally I buy fish from my favourite LFS (65 miles away) or locally. As my tanks are themed on a certain river (Río Mamor...

Re: Stephen's new 425L SeaBray Elite tank log
Just ordered 14 x Corydoras caudimaculatus on-line (cost a small fortune); they'll be here Friday. The other fish I'm collecting Wednesday. Ammonia = zero, Nitrite = zero, Nitrate = 10 Tank water temp = 24C, will try to lower it by half a degree to 23.5C (may be difficult). I will do a large water ...

Re: Heater question
As long as the heater is switched off when dry it should be perfectly fine. I always turn my heater off whenever I change any amount of water and back on once filled up. They’re designed to be operated when submerged so if they’re ever switched on when out of the water they will blow.

Re: Lunar's new tank
I probably paid too much for this but the current wood in my tank is starting to disintegrate so thought it was time for a new bit. I’m going to need to trim it a little as it’s too tall. https://i.postimg.cc/767mzz3v/IMG-0833.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/TPKkRFh3/IMG-0834.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/d3rpJ...
