Received free tank, filter help please?
Hi, My friend from work gave me his old tank. I don't think it's been used in over 5 years because some of the stuff had bbe 2016. It's a little Betta tank 20l? The filter is really weird though. It's inside the hood. How does this work? I assume I should completely replace the sponges because it's ...

Algae algae algae
In the past couple of months the algae on the glass has been growing really quickly, it's a brownish colour, it's easy to scrape off the glass. This is in both tanks, 240l and 40l. Both have bogwood and live plants in. The plants get a sort of black algae (BBA?) on which, in the big tank, the Siames...

Re: Siamese algae eater unwell?
It's now upside down on the bottom of the tank. Would it be kinder to put it out of it's misery? I have clove oil, is that still considered humane? And how much should I use if I put it in a jug with 0.5l tank water?

Re: Siamese algae eater unwell?
No change today, though at least he's not as stressed out by the other fish. They get catfish pellets and flake food. They occasionally get some freeze dried tubifex or bloodworm (soaked first). He is much thinner than the other two. I'd say the biggest one looks like it weighs over twice this one

Siamese algae eater unwell?
I've had 3 SAE in my 250l tank for 3-4 years. Yesterday I noticed one was hiding and didn't come out for food. Today it's still hiding and when I moved some driftwood it really struggled to swim. I'm going to put him in my little tank (40l) overnight. The other two SAE were trying to nip him when I ...

Re: Breeding Angel looking ragged
Okay, thanks for your help. I may have to re-home the lone female, as my only other tank is a little 40l with some tiny rasboras and a dwarf gourami. The "parents" have laid eggs probably 10 times now, I've seen them eat some eggs the first few times, but I've definitely noticed as soon as...

Breeding Angel looking ragged
Hi, new to the forum! Been fishkeeping for about 5 years. I have a 240l community tank in which are 3 angels, two female, one male. One of the females has paired up with the male and they lay eggs frequently, but they always get eaten when the light goes out (I suspect the Siamese algae eaters) Anyw...
