You could make a cover for the scaper with a piece of polycarb?
But I know what you mean about the all in ones they do have a completed and contained kind of feel to them hence why I went for the Quadro. If like me though you get hooked you will soon regret the restrictions of the all in ones!

Re: New to the hobby
Hi and welcome to the forum, as said above you will get some fantastic and friendly advice here. Seems like you've done your research so you're off to a good start. The only advice I will offer is to stick with a tank that doesn't have inbuilt filters and lights as it will really limit your options....

Re: My tanks journey so far.
Some say aquariums can take as little as three months, personally I think twelve months, some may disagree but there are a lot of factors involved. My 310 litre took around eighteen if I'm honest. Yeah I guess opinions and aquariums are different so you have to learn what's right for yours. Same as...

Re: My tanks journey so far.
Your aquarium is a young setup and every aquarium does go through various algae stages but your aquarium is going to have issues in summer with that skylight over the top of it. Might pay to install a blind on that skylight window. Try splitting your photoperiod, few hours in the morning and some f...

Re: My tanks journey so far.
My tank today. https://youtu.be/t5ktDsC_tqs Still battling the algae on a weekly basis. Experimented with different lighting periods with some success but still haven't found the right solution. I'm wondering if reducing the light intensity would help? I know you can get an online dimmer for this li...

Planning a future project, looking for recommendations.
So I'm getting completely addicted to this hobby again and already planning my next tank which I want to go much bigger probably around 900 x 450 x 450 approx. To do this I'm going to have to make some alterations to the living room to make space i.e. ripping out some inbuilt cupboard space etc. I'm...

Re: Smallest Powerhead or Circulation Pump
FYI I went for this in the end which was more than I wanted to spend but not mega bucks so somewhat of a compromise. It's not wifi controllable but does have and inline controller with 3 modes and variable speed. https://charterhouse-aquatics.com/products/tmc-reef-flow-2-0-2000-dc-nano It's a nice s...
