Re: How much crushed coral to use in a 55l tank
Trial and error! I have a small bag in my filter to help keep my kH from bottoming out (it’s naturally 1-2kH and I added botanicals). I just added a small spoonful and it’s done the job so far.
Re: Hello all
I had about 18 chillis (well, then and various other brigittae look alike species) in a 29L tank then had to move them into my 180L community tank to save money. They got very very shy in the big tank (with other soft water fish; cories, ottos, cardinals, harlequin rasbora, rummynose tetra and Pearl...

Re: New Tank Log: VikingMummy
We must be having weekly spawnings as I keep spotting tiny fry every week just as the previous dry start getting adventurous and swim around a bit more. I reckon 2-3 are surviving each time and I’ve definitely counted 8 fry of various sizes all at once, but know that specific count hasn’t included t...

Re: Stocking advice for 80L Tank
I agree with Plankton (it’s generally wise to!) that it’s not really long enough for rummies. Harleys are also really very active swimmers and the ones I used to have got quite territorial and nippy with each other even in a 240L tank. Something like hengeli or espei might be a better option if you’...

Did a quick Google: PASS Aquatics, Jesmond Drive, Bridge of Don. I was also going to say Waterworld but that’s closed down now.

Re: Starter advice - help!
Hi and welcome to the forum :) I echo what VikingMummy2015 had said. Get the largest aquarium that is in your budget range, the bigger the aquarium the more options available. Water hardness is a key factor when selecting fish (there are soft water fish species and hard water fish species); which t...

Re: Starter advice - help!
Best to get as big a tank as you have room for; lots of second hand options go for quite cheap on eg Facebook Marketplace too. You’ll need to figure out your water parameters to get the right stock; looks like you had a right mix of hard and soft water species as well as some not suited to tank shar...

Re: New Tank Log: VikingMummy
We’ve had another spawning as I saw more smaller fry again during/after today’s water change. At one point I was able to count 10 fry at various sizes. The older ones are definitely starting to get braver and coming out and about a wee bit more. Definitely one male amongst them as even his fins are ...
