Re: New Tank Log: VikingMummy
We’ve had another spawning as I saw more smaller fry again during/after today’s water change. At one point I was able to count 10 fry at various sizes. The older ones are definitely starting to get braver and coming out and about a wee bit more. Definitely one male amongst them as even his fins are ...

Re: Baby snail appeared
When you zoom in, yes it’s a black variant of a Sulawesi (mine are the standard yellow). My baby ones have smoother, more elongated shells.

Re: Baby snail appeared
Hmmm…difficult to tell but it doesn’t look quite right shell for a Sulawesi. You can see their distinctive body shape and colour from tiny (I have new babies appearing most weeks). An individual can produce live young (not eggs) because they hold onto the young internally for a looooong time.

Re: Water levels
You need 0 ammonia and nitrite. Anything above that is toxic unfortunately. On a positive note, the fact you’re getting increased nitrite shows your tank is at least starting to cycle, but you absolutely cannot add more fish as yet. You need to either carry out water changes (potentially multiple ti...

Re: Hi, new and in need of help!
Nothing with drawers, but something like IKEA Trofast unit or an kallax easily supports a tank that small. My first tank was a 29L one on a trofast in my kids’ bedroom. I then had a duplicate tank on an Argos chest of drawers and it started bowing within weeks whereas the trofast unit is still on th...

Remind us how your filter is set up? Because you shouldn’t ever be removing filter cartridges otherwise yes, you’ll be removing the beneficial bacteria you’ve worked so hard to grow! If it’s just carbon, it can be removed, but if it’s sponge in there, then it just needs rinsed in used tank water and...

I can’t remember which plants were from you, but this is how mine is looking as of a couple of days ago; much better than with all the snow!

Re: New Tank Log: VikingMummy
They like lurking but today I was able to count 7 fry all visible at one time in various locations around the tank. There are definitely 2 that are larger and belonging to a different spawn from the smaller ones. Looking at those 2, one has green eyes and the other has blue so that’s exciting to see...

Re: Sick swordtail
Even with the gH having been raised and maintained now, being raised in soft water (if supplier didn’t harden the water) and then being in soft water until December will have compromised them unfortunately and make them more susceptible to diseases that would normally be kept at bay by a healthy imm...

3 days of that and you’re good to go. It’s amazing how quickly those nitrite munchers catch up once they get going.
