Re: Scam calls?

I do like saying “which one?” to the “we believe you were in a car accident that was not your fault” and then see how much I can lead them on before they realise I’m having them on.
Or “computer? What’s that?” Etc. But I do have to be in the right mood.

Re: Cold water set up

Hiya. I had White Cloud Mountain minnows in a 29L tank and they were lovely but I don’t think I’d keep anything other than a betta in a tank that small now. It would probably do well as a shrimp only tank (not something I have any experience with as I have very soft water and no real fondness for sh...

Re: Need advice- what is this?

Hmmm...I can’t see any red at the root of the rot which you’d expect to see with classic fin rot. Not sure what the little white bumps/nodules are though. Something is certainly going on but would need more detail: Type of fish, size of tank, type of filtration, decor, tankmates, water parameters, w...

I’d go for a different wormer as that sounds a right faff. I’ve got some Clover (?) powder from when my sterbai were afflicted with whatever it was.

Re: Hello From Ayrshire!

Hi from a wee bit further up the road in Angus. I started off because my son liked the fish in Pets at Home so I know the drill! Stephen has given some great advice (seriously, listen to him about which fish to choose and stocking levels, he is a real guru). I would say that a 60L tank is too small ...

Re: Gold fish (possible swim bladder)

It did well to last 3 years. Goldfish are better in tanks with excess filtration and starting at 50L per fish. How do you test? Liquid kit/strips? And what water change schedule. Fish don’t just “get” swim bladder. It’s a symptom of other conditions and in this case I’d say something more must have ...

Re: QT help

Martinspuddle it does though. My water is similar and small tanks and cycling tanks use up the kH pretty quick and start eating into the pH within days. 2ppm of ammonia is a lot of bacteria so a lot of carbonates getting used up. I would definitely get away with fewer water changes if I stocked ver...

Re: Gold fish (possible swim bladder)

What size tank and what filtration? I’m seeing Peppa Pig in the background text which makes me think this is a pets at home type kids tank of maybe 25L at most? It looks absolutely done for I’m afraid. But if we know details of tank, water parameters, filtration and how the tank was initially cycled...
