RE: Refinishing MDF - Can I get some advice, please?

Hey @"GruntPuppy" how’s things going ? Bleeeeeurgh! The tank lid is finished apart from gluing and clamping the lid. The paint went well, until my ex decided to "help" by getting rid of some flies that had landed on it.  If only she'd waited until the paint was dry...   So - on ...

RE: Tank Build Thread

More purchases. Meh. Realised that part of the problem with the hood - the reason for the deterioration in the first place - was a two-fold thing. Firstly a penetration of moisture into the MDF, but also ACCESS to the problem areas for moisture in the first place. To counter this, I've ordered some ...

RE: Re-sealing a Tank

Has anyone tried "oversealing" to neaten up their silicone? I'm having the devil's own time cleaning the silicone that's in the tank I'm working on, I was considering laying some black silicone over the clear silicone that's already there. Any and all opinions/experience welcome. I went fo...

RE: Tank Build Thread

HA6 has arrived.

I've decided - whatever else happens, this weekend is TANK TIME. So there will be progress, there will be photos, there will probably be implied swearing, I'll probably find more problems to get past, but STUFF IS GOING TO DAMN WELL HAPPEN :D

500 bonus Nectar points offer on a well known auction website

Didn't know where to stick this - so it's here :D If any of you collect Nectar points through evilBay, they've got an offer on for 500 extra nectar points if you buy from certain sections - including the pet supplies section.  So I just got an extra 500 points for myself buying a new set of sponge s...

RE: Thinking about marine

I thought about marine as well when I bought the setup I'm currently refurbing, since it came with all the equipment for a marine setup. Then I thought about how many marine keepers I know who've had - as mentioned - "tank crashes" - shuddered, and ever so carefully backed away from the id...

RE: Tank Build Thread

I'm going back with a flamethrower. And OUCH it's PAINFUL! So... today... a new toy arrived - A Medcalf Model B pump, that I paid £70 for. It needs, I'd say, about 7 or 8 hours of work before it's working to my satisfaction, but it is in good condition and will clean up beautifully too. In fact, cle...

RE: Tank Build Thread

Do you guys have a favourite swearword? Insert it into the gap below *____* MY LUCK! On the weekend, I helped my parents with the garden. And the puppy. More the puppy than the garden, but still... Unfortunately, while helping clear the garden (which felt like strimming Jurassic Park) I came into co...
