Re: My tetras have risen from the dead…
Small tetras are very good at doing that, but I've had larger fish do it as well.....

Re: Are cories seasonal?
They will.
I also keep them with guppies (and a grumpy bristlenose) which also balance their numbers.
I think panda fry are the cutest cory fry as they look just like the adults, whereas most other cories look similar with splotches for camouflage.

Re: Can you cycle a small tank (fish-in) in a week?
I've always kept neons at 22C, cardinals at 27C with no problems. Anything else will cause problems long-term.
I've always managed to keep them between 5 and 7 years, which is a relatively long time for small tetras.

Re: Hi! New and confused
It's not too bad. That's about 20ppm, maybe a bit less - a lot of people get 40ppm. I'm lucky as it doesn't register much. 20ppm and below is fine, below 40 is ok, above that gets a bit unhelpful for the fish. Some fish, like blue rams and discus do not like it above 20ppm, but most fish are ok with...

Re: Understanding water hardness
Chlorine doesn't affect it (just means you must use conditioner), it'll be the rocks/sand leeching carbonates to raise the ph.
Unless they pop CO2 in to soften the water in the pipes.
Try getting a (clean) glass of water and leaving it to stand overnight and then test that.
