Will different danio breeds school together?
#1
I’ve sadly lost a couple of my Glowlight danios over the last two weeks (one was ill on arrival, one died after a tank move/large water change, and one never existed - I bought 8 but only got 7 🤦🏻‍♂️).

I’m looking at getting another 6 as there’s only 5 left, but I was wondering whether I have to get the same type? I ask as the place I got the Glowlights from no longer stock them

Some breeds might group together or loosely shoal but generally fish prefer the company of their own kind.
You do need to be careful with some species as they can cross breed.

They are Brachydanio rerio aren't they ?
Get some natural ones to join them.

Aad, the glowlights are danio choprai. They aren't man-made. Wink

I'm not whether they would inter-breed. I know the zebra/leopard/pearl danios (which are all b. rerio) will interbreed, usually reverting to zebras eventually.
If at first you don't succeed....
...get someone else to do it! Big Grin

Enjoy your fish, shrimps and snails!

Mobiles are way too complicated for me, although I do have one now. Wink

Hahaha sorry : I am too often on an American forum where glofish (which I hate) show up every day.
Thanks Ian

The person/people who created glofish should be shot!

The different breeds of zebra danio will shoal together (Pearl danios are not one of them, they’re a different species). The different species need their own groups.
I don't keep fish, I keep water. Water keeps fish.
