Best heater?
Hi all. I’m having huge heater issues in my 110l tropical tank. I’ll spare you the dramas that led to this and just say that where I am now is using two heaters of different makes, each of which is supposed to be sufficient for 100l. The thermostat on each is wildly different: I’m aiming for 24 degrees but am forever having to adjust one or other of them because the temperature in the tank is so volatile. Is having two heaters confusing things? I’ve done it for safety, after my last one failed. I have water movement throughout the tank so I think the thermometer is accurate. Maybe I just need a better heater/heaters.....

I bet it is the two heaters causing fluctuations, can you put one heater more to the centre of your tank, I have two heaters but one is set a lot lower than the other so it should act more like a back up in case my main heater packs up.
I think the more you pay for a heater the better quality it should be.

I always use eheim jager heaters. Bit bigger physically than most but best ones I've used!

If you have an external filter then a plumbed in external heater such as a Hydor all the way for me. I have had a single Hydor 300W running a 500+L tank for over a year with no issues. Frees up valuable space in smaller tanks.

What heaters are you using now?
Over the years I've used big names and not-so-big names and had random results.
Juwel heaters aren't the most reliable, yet APS (which get a lot of bad comments) have done far better for instance and a lot cheaper.
If at first you don't succeed....
...get someone else to do it! Big Grin

Enjoy your fish, shrimps and snails!

All my posts are from a desktop.
Mobiles are way too complicated for me, although I do have one now. Wink

Bulk Reef Supply did a comparison for heaters from their best sellers but all they were checking was the heaters ability to maintain temperatures as accurately as possible.
