Snails - damn snails
#11
I had this issue with my tropical fish tank. I then purchased 2 zebra loaches, 2 clown loaches and 1 plec and this was plenty to clear up and keep clean a 4ft tank.

Thanks,
Jordan

Only if the tank is big enough for those types of fish. Clown loaches need a minimum of a 6 foot tank and be kept in groups of at least 6. As well as living for goldfish sorts of life spans. (20years +)

That’s a big long term commitment for snail control Smile

My local aquarist shop has said he'd sell me a clown loach then when it has things under control or gets too big he'd take it back.
Whatever. On Friday I'm selling a tankful of black mollies, another tank of female endler guppies and a separate batch of male endlers.
It'll clear 3 smallish tanks and I'm putting one away. The other two can be cleaned out and restarted snail free and I'll temporarily transfer all the fish from my 60lt tank into them until I get this cleaned out as well.
I really don't have the time to do things slowly. Lots of other things going on right now.

Just as a backup I'm getting some pea puffers that I can keep separate in each tank to ensure it's all cleared of snails.

As a note for you....dwarf puffers have teeth, so, as well as crunching small snails, they can bite any flowing fins. Keep your eye on them. Wink
If at first you don't succeed....
...get someone else to do it! Big Grin

Enjoy your fish, shrimps and snails!
