Guppy Problem
#21
It was a bit of a random post, with no backup comments to say why you'd written it. Not much help without the comments. Wink

Guppies aren't as hardy as they were, but there are a number of questions to be asked that haven't already been:
How many guppies did you have?
Are all the guppies males?
Are there any other fish in the tank?

Nitrates aren't a problem with guppies, there was a study where they were kept in 1000ppm nitrates with no effect on their health.....my link to the study appears to be missing from my list....I remember Vale! pointed me to it a few years ago......maybe he still has it.....**wanders off mumbling to himself about losing important links because of updates for Windows 10, as well as important emails**
If at first you don't succeed....
...get someone else to do it! Big Grin

Enjoy your fish, shrimps and snails!
Ian

All my posts are from a desktop.
Mobiles are way too complicated for me, although I do have one now. Wink

I actually had a conversation with one of the guys in my LFS when I was buying some guppies for my daughter's tank a few weeks ago. He was basically telling me that most people come in and want to buy males only for their tanks because they prefer their appearance over the females.

I've always preferred a healthy balance so you get a regular supply of guppies. You just need to top up to dilute the gene pool from time to time which is what I do for my daughter's tank. Males may look prettier but its fun to watch them have babies, then see them grow up and do the same.
