German Rams
#1
Last Friday I had the day off work and it had been well over 6 weeks since the "Rasbora incident".  Had no deaths so decided to get my lone Honey Gourami some company.   I found my 3 Honeys and while in the LFS I spotted some small German Rams in one of the other tanks, they looked fantastic.

Short story even shorter, two of the Rams came home with me too.

All 5 have been in the tank now for just shy of a week.  Everyone still alive (touches wood) - tank seems pretty calm.

Apart from one of the Rams, which seems to be a bit of a bully.

I did ask for a male and a female but I have a sneaking suspicion that I have two ladies, pic of one attached. They both look pretty much exactly the same.

The two Rams appear to have set up home under one of the crypts and are now chasing the other fish away.  Everyone's fins are still intact and the general atmosphere of the tank seems pretty calm.  It's not like when the Rasbora went postal and everyone stuck to the edges, the Rams will chase say the Gourami and the Gourami will swim away abit and then usually just turn round and swim right back past the Ram.

Should I be worried?  I can't cope with anymore fish related heartache.

Sounds like she's found the perfect place to start a family, and the other one is probably a male, since she's not showing aggression towards it. This is what often happens when you take a pair of Rams out of the shop environment and into a nice tank with nothing to stop them.
I don't keep fish, I keep water. Water keeps fish.

I agree with BG, you'll probably find eggs and/or fry at some stage in the not too distant future.......
If at first you don't succeed....
...get someone else to do it! Big Grin

Enjoy your fish, shrimps and snails!
