I’ve really enjoyed reading all this thread, thank you has been a good source of information, still learning lots about this fascinating hobby.

Your tank looks fantastic, bet your children will love it, it’s very colourful and interesting to look at. You’ve done a great job with the design of it all !

Keep posting photos, love to see how things are going 🏼

Thanks, good luck with setting up. At least you will be able to fishless cycle as you know about this before getting tank. I didn’t.

I think I’ve been lucky as I have never registered any ammonia and my harlequins are doing fine and growing.

If I’d known about fishless cycling I would have done it but my local shop did not tell me and I found out from here.
Loads of helpful people from here so don’t be scared to ask

New Algae appeared. Anything I can do or do I just need to remove the artificial plant and clean it off?

Yes, clean it off, unless you WANT algae eaters. Even then you'll have to make sure there are no sharp edges on the plastic that could harm the suckers.
If at first you don't succeed....
...get someone else to do it! Big Grin

Enjoy your fish, shrimps and snails!

So do I just wipe it off with a cloth or paper towel or do I need to give all the plants and ornaments a scrub with a brush or something?

Is there anything else I can do to prevent it growing like that?

You can use a new unused sponge scourer, toothbrush or your fingers Wink
