Any loach-proof plants?
Hi all. Just looking for some advice please.

I have a sucking loach (Gyrinocheilus aymonieri) kept with white cloud mountain minnows. Last year I planted Elodea densa / Egeria densa, it's been in around 10 months and slowly the loach has reduced 5 plants down to two and even these are browning and I keep cutting them back.

Some have been uprooted by the loach digging around in the gravel but most of the damage seems to be caused by the loach sucking on to the leaves and they turn brown.

Can anyone suggest a small plant / small leaved plant which might be better suited and suffer less damage ?

Thanks in advance  Shy

The loach is feeding off the leaves though + turning them brown. I think this would still be a problem, though I agree it wouldn't be able to dig them out of the gravel

I can't see a fish causing the leaves to change colour/die. Sounds more like a lack in something else.

CAEs will eat leaves while they're small. You need to supplement the diet with fresh veg.
Do beware though, as they grow they get a taste for the protective mucus on fish and will kill other tankmates.
What size is the tank?
If at first you don't succeed....
...get someone else to do it! Big Grin

Enjoy your fish, shrimps and snails!

Mobiles are way too complicated for me, although I do have one now. Wink
