Struggling Vallisneria

Post by Sixo »

Hi all,

I've got some Vallisneria in my softwater setup which does OK at best (without CO2 but do use root tabs). It does propagate but the leaves often turn out looking a bit ropey, very dark in colour and almost transparent in parts.

Not to mention I have some BBA forming on it too, although I'm not sure if this is the direct cause or the plant is just attracting algae because it's not healthy.

I'm getting mixed information when I read up on it's suitability for soft water so I was wondering if anybody could suggest something else as a bombproof background plant?

Cheers
