Just sitting here on a day off, having a lazy morning beside the tank. I’m watching the inhabitants of the tank who enjoy floating plants ...
Gourami
Angels
Amano shrimp
S. Algae eaters
I think floating plants are a great addition to a planted tank, to further enrich a fish’s environment!
These are my Thursday morning/off school for local elections ponderings.
Floating plants...

It does depend on the surface flow. Both of mine are a bit harsh on the surface, which tends to just push them under the water.

I have 5 different types of (intentionally) floating plant. I seem to find that a different species thrives in each tank (or in some cases, nothing thrives). In all cases the fish love the dappled shade, and the roots provide a haven for young fish, and a nesting site for the anabantoids. They're a great way of removing nitrate and phosphate too - just pull them out and compost them!
