Fair enough. Not seen any more spikes so hopefully all is now ok.plankton wrote: You probably wouldn't see the spike. The nitrite takes longer to shift than the ammonia.

Update re filter that had a chip. Maidenhead Aquatics acknowledged that it had cosmetic damage and have tried to source a replacement lid via the manufacturer but this isn't available. What they've decided to do is send me a £15 gift voucher since it doesn't affect the running of the filter and they can't get a replacement part.

I'd be happy with that if the filter still functions fine.

I was looking at some sort of algae scraper that will reach the bottom of the glass or some Otos.

Just a quick update, no further issues with any fish and Ammonia and Nitrates remain 0. I bought an Algae scraper kit with extendable handle from Maidenhead Aquatics with my voucher and that's proving to be useful.
Also just bought some Vallis for the background and some Java Moss which I intend to attach to some mesh I have acquired to encourage it to grow on the bogwood. Had some moss before but wasn't entirely successful in getting it to stay on the bogwood so hoping the mesh and fishing wire that came with it will work better.

Plants coming on nicely. Almost all growing on well, with the exception of the Cabomba on the back right hand side and the hair grass at the front right.
Am now thinking of the EI ferts I have somewhere in the cupboard and even thinking of my old CO2 system which i might also drag out and set up again.
Here's a picture this evening for reference.
Fish all growing in nicely too. Will look to post some pictures tomorrow when the main lights are on.

Got back home later than anticipated this evening so didn’t get much of a chance to take some photos. This is all I have for now.

Thanks. They've grown well and coloured up really nicely. I have 8 of them that look great when a few of them shoal together.KevB wrote: Lovely shot of the Congo there.
