My Puffer Tank

Hello,

I'm new here and I thought I'd make a post about my Birthday tank that I'm in the process of setting up. Hopefully, it will home to some Dwarf Puffers in the not too distant future.

It's a Fluval Flex 57, I have black sand substrate, some homemade slate caves, a skull and plants. Currently, there is Anubias Nana, Anubias Lanceolata, Crypt Parva, 2 types of Eleocharis, 2 types of Vallisneria and some moss.

I set the tank up on the 5th of September, and I'm currently fish-less cycling. Although there are some encouraging signs with the nitrites dropping yesterday, I think it will be possibly another 1-2 weeks before it's ready for fish. Fingers crossed I can find some locally by then.

Hello and welcome. How many puffers are you planning on?

I'm planning on no more than 3 puffers.

They are great, I've had them before and was planning on putting them in my 'Shallow Jungle' tank and moving the tetras' across awesome characters.

Make sure you’re fairly confident with sexing them before going to the shop. Ideally you’ll want 1M 2F or 3F. We ended up with 2M and 1F which wasn’t so good.

Hello and welcome to the site, really looking forward to seeing and reading about your progress. I have a Flex, had a little stall with the fish less cycle but got there in the end, currently stocked with Cory and two amanos. Did have some cherry shrimp sadly they seems to have disappeared.

I used to have a tank, then moved house and Life got Crazy so am watching everyone else’s progress until I can get my own again!
