Little one was again off at childminder, so did a bit on the big tank.
- cleaned the glass, it had got really thick in a few patches
- cleaned the big stones
- took out Eelmintrude's pipes :'(
- cleaned the leaves of the plants in jam jars
- took one jam jar out as plant was dead, new leaves had been nipped too much to survive
- took out a couple of floating anubias that had detached

Wondering what to do with the anubias, they're not in the best condition at all but do you think someone would want them? Along with two bits of vallis before it dies?

If you’re on Facebook there are several fish groups where you might be able to offload the plants, if a post on here doesn’t get any takers? I am all anubiased up (and vallis hates my water).

Hey staffy, I don't know one for rope fish but there is a generic freshwater eels type one and people do talk about ropefish on it - Freshwater Eel Enthusiasts! Most of them tend to be American focussed with ambiguous advice so verify anything you get advised!

For Ropefish you may be better served looking for a Birchir group as Ropefish come under that order, rather than Eels.

So I have a female rainbow that has had a steadily growing stomach for maybe a year now. I've tried various treatment and starving but it doesn't seem to stop the growing. Recently she seems to be so big, her tail is dropping a touch and she wobbles to move around... I'm thinking internal tumour ofc. But how long do I leave it before I PTS? She seems generally active, eats, interacts with other fish, responds to me. I guess I need to decide whether to do it sooner rather than later when she may begin to suffer more. Hard to know with fish :(

Hi Feliss, I recently had this with my last pearl danio, also a tumour in the stomach area, he must have been 6months from when I first noticed it but once I saw the scales in the area starting to lift I decided to try and fish him out, although he seemed to still be swimming ok it was not too difficult to catch him which confirmed to me it was the right time as I would never normally be able to catch a danio without draining nearly ALL of the water first, I hate doing it, thank goodness for aqua - sed. On a lighter note I spent a happy hour on the FB group you mentioned but not been brave enough to post anything yet, (couldn't find a specific Birchir one) and today I had my will power tested when I visited the LFS for food, they had changed all the display tanks and in one of them was 3 small rope fish, they were gorgeous and very active but I resisted!

Yes, it is difficult. I usually wait as long as possible until they're in real difficulties (if they don't respond to treatment).

Thanks @Staffylover and @plankton , I'll give her a bit more time and we'll see how she goes.

I considered rope fish once, I really like you can have multiple of them and their little nose tubes are so so cute! What's you thoughts about them @Staffylover, why you resisting?
