In other news, I re-levelled his sand today during a clean out, and less than an hour later he's almost entirely piled it back in one corner again. Check out the vid.

Anything from bad water, to boredom, to hunger, to not enough space, to straight up curiosity/fun. Wide range of reasons. Just as many posts I read say they do it for giggles as posts that say "HE'S GONNA DIE IF YOU DON'T FIND OUT WHY!!!!1111".
My wife had an idea tonight, to essentially swap tanks. Move any livestock that would die (so bottom feeders/shrimp/snails) plus as many plants as I can cram in the 90L over there, then move him to the 240L, just keeping some faster top swimmers (mainly because they won't all fit in the 90L obviously).
I'll need to do some stocking checking on aqadvisor, and probably invest in a bigger internal filter if they'll fit, but it may just work.

OKay, so I can move the Corys, Otos, Atyas, Platys and White Clouds to the 90L, 80% capacity. I would upgrade the U2, probably to a U3.
That leaves me the 12 x Black Phantom Tetras and 2 x SAE in the big tank. The Phantoms are too fast for Dave to catch by far. The SAEs just won't fit in the 90L...not sure how they will fair on being caught but they seem a lot faster than Platys, and he hasn't remotely come close to catching the remaining Platys in his tank.
I have lots of hardscape/wood in the 240L, just moving over all the plants to the 90L, so it would become a very heavily planted tank, but that's okay. This may just work!
