Sorry you've lost some :(
You've probably had spikes which have caused it. The gill areas are a bit red.
I'd do extra water changes if you've found bodies.

Baffled as to where the hell that other Neon has gone.

Have drained around 40% of the water as I've been sifting gently through the sand. All the wood & plants(bar 2 weedy swords) are out in the drained off water in my emergency box (where I think I will leave them for a day or 2 to make it easier to monitor the rest of the residents).

Water that's going back in will be having a medicinal dose of prime (even though all my readings were good) and also a dose of Melafix as a precaution

Probably eaten then, or in the filter in small pieces. :(

I'll go with eaten. Just having a really good final sift around before adding water back in and came across some little shiney blue & red pieces of skin/scales.

Unless I got my counting wrong all fish were present & correct 24 hours ago and the only oddity I've seen parameter wise is that PH spike recorded yesterday morning.

Would i be better leaving the wood & plants out for a day or two or would htye be better going back in so as not to remove any of the munchers etc ?

made a slight rearrangement to the layout so that it's a little easier to look into nooks & crannies without having to disturb anything

Going to be one of those days.

So after doing a 50% water change and clean up etc after the losses overnight I checked my water parameters mid afternoon and all looked good.

Just checked again and glad I did as just caught an ammonia (0.25) & nitrite(0.5)spike. Nitrates are somewhere between yellow & orange so some but not many (but then again my nitrates are always pretty much 0 if you look back through my morning report cards).

PH is down a little at 7.2 (which is the normal tap level although when I checked it yesterday I think it was , the tap was down to 6.6, its back there somewhere) and GH & KH are both where they normally are.

Just done another 50% water change plus a 5 x dosage on the Prime + a cap of stability

fingers crossed, currently all residents accounted for.
