Got to admit it would look fantastic planted out with just massive shoal of Neon tetras. How big is your new purchase?

Sorry Martin missed your last comment it's 180cm long, 410L so not much more in terms of litres than the Jewel 350 but long n thin so should suit the rainbows a bit better, hope so anyway (they better like it!)
Would like to get it looking like a river scape so the shape should suit that idea, rather than just adding any plant or bit of décor that I fancied as I have done up to now, that's my plan anyway :]

Hi Andy, yes it's from the doors and draws range, Maidenhead had them on sale although it doesn't make them cheap, but it's a nice bit of furniture and in worst case if I have to sell it in the future it should hold some value, one thing I didn't consider before purchase is the lid being made from Oak is very heavy, hopefully I wont have to take it off very often once set up, I hardly ever take the lids off on the 350 I just lift the flaps and slide them back or forwards as needed on a smaller model it wouldn't be such an issue, I do like my Jewel tanks but they do not make one this shape, the other option was to get one made, but then delivery and set up was also a concern, I only realised when I went a few days ago that Wharf Aquatics make tanks if I ever want one made think I might go there, are you planning a new tank then? that's very exciting :)

Sadly not Martin, no time this weekend only just had time to do my existing tanks, not likely to get time next weekend either it will have to be the one after, they did catch me out a bit with delivery within a week, I was expecting at least 4 weeks to prepare, still it's nice to look at, might never look so good again in fact! Will post pics as soon as I do anything I promise :D

I was just looking for future reference staffy. Got my hands full with the two 60L at the minute.

I'm looking forward to seeing yours grow. Are you going to plant it?

Yes @Andys temperate tank , I like plants hope to get a river type of look so will be transplanting some runners from the tall grasses in the 350 not sure what else to put in yet not very well up on different plants other reedy looking stuff probably, perhaps someone can suggest something, got some substrate today went for sand I like gravel but in general think fish prefer sand it's kind of an orange colour, also got some pebbles sold as Scottish cobbles to go in but have yet to get the compost, bit short on time at the moment but it's itching at me having it sat there empty :]

Apart from basic maintenance, and a bit of shopping for new tank mentioned above, the only change for my tanks this weekend was new bit of wood in the 180, I want it the other way round really but haven't soaked it so it wouldn't sink, will wait a couple of weeks if it still wont sink will have to weight it down with one of those new pebbles :)
