Alternanthera Reineckii Pink grows well in my tank but only if it is in direct intense light with no shading. It seems a very light-hungry plant. (I do have soft water too). You seem to have positioned yours well Stephen.

Yes, it needs a lot of light. It was the only plant I had that I couldn't get to work even with CO2 and EI dosing. It didn't spectacularly fail, it just didn't grow like everything else in the tank. Being so small and my fairly low level of light was probably the issue.

I've always struggles to grow the plant but with the Juwel LED lighting thought I'd give it another go.
It was only one pot of the Tropica 1-2-grow and I feel it's looking good after just 12 days, my best attempt so far. :]

Which pump did you get Stephen? - I'm getting some BBA and one thing mentioned is flow, not sure if to add a spray bar to my filter to increase flow, add a second filter or just get a circulation pump

Tanks looking great btw!

@Lee_k

I got this one.
Sicce Voyager Nano 1000
Image
I would normally buy an Eheim but Eheim do not do one at this small size. I only need a small circulation pump to overcome the dead spot.
The Sicce Voyager Nano 1000 is suitable for aquariums of around 60-120L whilst the bigger 2000 version is suitable for aquariums of around 120-200L.
The 1000 version is only 2.8W and the 2000 version is only 3W.
Sicce are a top Italian company who manufacture aquarium & pond products including skimmers, pumps, filters etc..

Here is a download link to the Sicce catalogue (Link)

All the best

I done a big water change today & cleaned the glass and internal filter box of algae.
The algae is annoying, the lights are only on for 6 hours on the 120L aquarium (8 hours on the big 550L aquarium).
I am strongly contemplating getting an external filter (with UV) for the 120L aquarium as I do not like the Juwel internal filter.
The only alternative is to have a more powerful pump (Juwel 1000L/h) but that will cost half the price of an external filter. (Do I throw good money after bad?)
I will likely make a decision over the coming few days.

I've had the feeling youd end up with an external on there Stephen. I'm surprised you've lasted this long.
