I've had before now shop staff adamant that their naming of a species is correct all because they where listed as such by the wholesaler.
This can be quite funny when you know because of their mistake, the fish is under priced.
Well .... I returned the 3 x Satanoperca daemon to Maidenhead Aquatics today.
Firstly the girl (same girl that served me on Tuesday and originally from my local MA) said they were Satanoperca jurupari.
I produced two photos on my phone showing both species (as below) and explained that the one labelled as Satanoperca jurupari had 3 spots and that Satanoperca jurupari do not have spots and that the Satanoperca daemon is commonly known as the 3 spot eartheater.
I also explained that the Satanoperca daemon grow to around 10.5 inches whilst Satanoperca jurupari grow to around 7 inches and that my aquarium is not big enough for 3 x Satanoperca daemon.

Initially she offered a credit note for the value (valued only at MA Worcester for 6 months) but I insisted on a refund.
She telephoned her manager and I eventually got my refund.
So I walked away with my refund and 4 tubes of live food (daphnia & bloodworm) which cost £5 for all 4.
One bag of live bloodworm went down well with my fish on my return home.
