Re: Unalome's Rainbow Utopia
I don't know, it took me about 18 months to get the flow right in my Trigon.....

If at first you don't succeed....
...get someone else to do it!

Re: Unalome's Rainbow Utopia
Plants have been added, a combination of Anubias Nana Bonsai, Anubias Petite & Bucephalandria Theia.
Had to break out the DSLR to show off... So chuffed with how this tank has turned out!

My first fish have also been added to the tank... A group of 5 juvenile Boesemani Rainbows! (2 x male & 3 female).

Will let these guys get settled having the tank all to themselves and will be adding more fish in a week's time.

Re: Unalome's Rainbow Utopia
Very nice!
You will need another female rainbow to cut down on the males bickering over them.

Re: Unalome's Rainbow Utopia
Thanks! I'm planning to get a mixed group of Lake Kutubu (Blue) Rainbows next weekend... Would that help or is it best to still get one more female Boesemani too?

Re: Unalome's Rainbow Utopia
Rainbows tend to interbreed, but another Boesemani may cut down the likelyhood (I doubt it
).

Re: Unalome's Rainbow Utopia
I've observed some aggression in the tank today with two of the rainbows circling each other and nipping at each others bodies... What came to my surprise was that it wasn't between the two obvious male Boesemani but between one of them and what I was sold as a female Boesemani but now thinking could very well be a male blue/lake Kutubu... Any one able to confirm my suspicions?

Re: Unalome's Rainbow Utopia
The little dark band on the side inside the stripes makes it boesemani.

Re: Unalome's Rainbow Utopia
Thanks for your response, is it possible that a male and female could have some aggression towards each other or is it that this is also a male?

Re: Unalome's Rainbow Utopia
No, it’s female. Nobody got hurt. I would see it more as just some kind of communication, rather than aggression.
