Few days ago I bought juvenile lemon pleco, and only when in my tank I noticed it has black belly.
Quick google tell me might be sign of illness or parasites etc.
Anyone knows for sure? He’s active and seems happy so far. 🙈

He is tiny , maybe 1.5 inch. He’s always behind plants at the back and rarely comes out close enough for photos. I will try to catch him at some point ..

Keep your eye on it, make sure its digestive system works properly.
It may be the food it's been eating. I have albino BNs that have dark stomachs after eating loads of algae.

Thanks plankton. I did think this might be to do with what he’s eaten. As I mentioned he’s super active and happy so far..

What are you feeding?
I've also noticed that some of the algae wafers show up as dark as well.
Fresh veg doesn't so much, unless it's red pepper which makes the bellies pink. ;)

I always put in some algae wafers or veggie flakes or recently started putting actual veg. Neither lemon or Otos come out for food at all, never seen them go for it. It gets eaten by all other fish in the tank.
They might get on the actual veg at night as I normally leave it in. Or might be Still happy with Amount of algae in the tank . No idea 🙈
