Probably be a m.australis, the lines look wrong for m.maccullochi.

They are definitely western rainbows (M australis), P@H have them in their 'mixed rainbows' tanks all the time. Sorry I didn't see this thread much sooner :-( as you say they need a decent sized tank, I've never kept them though.
