Stunned to read today that nerite lifespan is only one year! The one I have (currently temporarily located in a plastic box to protect from fishless cycle) is 6 years old - I’ve just been back through my emails to when I bought him to double check. His friend lived to be about 4 years old.

How old are your nerites?

Some of those numbers seem way off. I read that Amano shrimp only live a couple of years. I had a group of 5 that lasted 10 years and were still going when I sold the tank. They lived through all sorts of problems, including my mate not cleaning the tank once when I was working away for 6 months

I've had them last from 9 months to 7 years.
