Wow! That looks brilliant! Really impressive and it kind of looks as if it’s always been there. Those lovely slates have finished it off beautifully x

Look forward to seeing it mature and develop!  :)   Xx
Love Han xxx

It's far too cold to go swimming!
So far, the only wildlife it has attracted is a few mosquitoes. Hopefully something more interesting will turn up in the spring.

I look forward to seeing it full of wildlife. :)
[/quote]Paul will organise safaris soon !!!
Helicopter and boattours will be available next summer.

To be serious : I think one will be amazed how vast this pond is inhabited by loads of animals.

Mosquitoes? Free food for the fish then..... :D
If at first you don't succeed....
...get someone else to do it! :D

Enjoy your fish, shrimps and snails!

I got around to finishing off the gutter that feeds the runnel:

Again it’s mostly recycled existing bits but I had to buy a few new parts and some black paint for the cast-iron hopper which was used by the previous owners as a decorative plant pot. It’s still in the same place, I designed the rest of this gutter around it.

Here is a summary of the the costs; if anyone else is considering a similar project this will give you an idea:

Sand and cement, plus a bricklaying trowel £85.68
Hessian sacks (previously used for coffee beans) £10.00
1mm Butyl liner and underlay £277.51
Wildlife pond book £3.27 (secondhand)
Yorkshire slate copings £80.00 (reclaimed)
Guttering components and paint £45.57
Plants and pots, first order £35.23
Plants and pots, second order £41.61
Plants and pots, third order £29.20
So far, all the other materials have been recycled and the tools were either already in stock or borrowed from friends.

So the total spend was £608.07, of which the liner and underlay comprised almost half.

Seems a heap at first but if you consider that you'll enjoy the pond for years to come, its ok. Looking forward to how it will develop.. :)
