also be careful it doesn't eat into the silicone! You can scrape it off with a blade, but takes a lot of time and effort.

Just finished taking the black paint of the rear external glass of the tank. As the 240L Fluval is a fairly large tank, I split the task into tank quarters. I got some fairy on a sponge with warm water and soaked a quarter - left it for a few minutes then slowly and carefully used a metal wall paper scraper to get the paint off a little at a time - repeated process until it was all removed. It takes time - I found it strangely therapeutic.
Got to be honest I was bricking it to start of with, but hey if you don’t try you’ll never know.
Thanks for all the advice.

I have no idea on anything for the Fluval, I just bought retro-fitting Superfish LEDs for the Trigon......

got a few options really. Retro fit LED tubes that use the holders but not the power ( as @plankton says ) LED Tubes with built in drivers ), replacement units like the fluval LED tubes or bar lights ( might not be able to use the flaps )

My own choice for my Fluval 160 and 260 is 2 generic LED light bars off ebay.
I went for ones with white and red/green/blue LEDs, I then rewired the circuit boards so the white and the RGB can be switched individually, timed by a TC420 controller, total cost about £90 for both tanks
Fish are doing well, as are the plants, the sunrise, daytime and sunset settings are working a treat, and its all now automated.
