Hi, one of my platys today has been hiding in an enclosed space and sort of just staying there, not swimming around. See photo.
Does anyone know what this means? Thanks

They’ll look for somewhere private to drop fry. Like plant thickets etc...

Edit: he's gone back to his hiding place again. Hmmm

Is it male? Looks female to me... but I can’t see the anal fin clearly...

Not sure if it is male or female to be honest. Will take another picture later.

It looks female to me as well.
Have you got any planting in the tank? It looks quite bare from the pic.
Also - I hope the end of the heater isn't actually touching the substrate like it looks as though it might be from the pic. ;)

Looking at your picture on 'post image' with the enlarge view, I agree with black ghost and plankton, looks like a female to me as well.

Some pics of the fish as requested.
As for the heater, it's low in the water because I thought the heat rises. It doesn't touch the substrate gravel. Yes the tank is very bare, there's no plants in there apart from a small plastic one.

She is probably trying to find somewhere to hide to drop fry.
You'll need more cover really, even if it's only silk/plastic...... ;)
As long as the heater doesn't touch the substrate you should be ok - they tend to blow if they do. You could move it up an inch or two. :)
