Was doing a big change on the barb tank. barb slipped through the platic cover of the hose and went down the hose onto snowy gravel. Took me a minute or two to get her back into the tank. Anything I can do to help her recovery or is it hopeless?

She's listing a bit and struggling to swim right now

She'd have gone into shock from hitting the snow. Hopefully she'll recover ok given the time out.

She's stopped swimming and there's no movement in the gills. Netted her and no response to light or to touch. I think she got too cold too fast. Damn. just damn.

Yikes...that’s one to sadly chalk up to experience. How about a net/stocking of some sort over the inlet so nothing large can get through?

Yeah, I thought the plastic filter cap would stop them getting through but I guess she was just thin enough. Guess I'll have to use the net in future.

Sorry to hear man, I think Murphy's Law applies a lot to fish keeping. If you have a spare media bag wrap it round the end of the hose should stop most fish getting sucked up.

It does sound as if the temp change was just a bit too much for her :(

Sorry to hear. :(
We all have incidents with water changes, mine are usually with otos and guppies, but I expect it with guppies as they're so inquisitive and seem intent on trying out the syphon.
