Hello

I rescued some fish yesterday but the ebay picks sucked. When I got there, I met 4 of these chaps.

What are they please?

Piranhas! ...no they are Buenos Aires Tetra (Hyphessobrycon anisitsi) great fish best kept in larger groups as they can be pugnacious to other tank mates.

Preferring lower temperatures, when I had them I kept them in 70°C, also beware they are very greedy fish, so more delicate feeders maybe pushed aside. Despite all I seen written about their adult size, I have yet to see one over 2¼ - 2½ inches in length. Reputably they have been found in their native Paraná river up to 5" inches.

I again agree, best kept somewhere around 21/22C (70/72F) long-term.

All the best

Yes, they don't look the youngest of fish, I believe they live 5-7 years.

Anybody know what type of Cory this is? It’s on an ad so it’s the only pictures I’ve got, seller doesn’t know.
