So i mainly have mollies as my fish and iv read everywhere about not keeping shrimp with them.
Was just wondering if anyone has had an success with them getting along. What shrimp type/size etc
My male Snow is a definate no with shrimp(a lesson i learned the hard way before i read about mixing different fish) as he lets them settle in... grow a bit then all of a sudden basically harasses and tear bits off them.

Amano would be the only shrimp I'd attempt with most fish

I've got swordtails and full-grown congo tetra in my community tank and my red crystal shrimp population is booming! Good cover and plenty of hiding spaces and they'll do fine. I'd obviously have a lot more if it was shrimp only, but only added my culls to see what happened and they're doing great. Sure lots of babies get eaten, but definitely, about x4/5 times more adults in there than I ever put in.
I believe for best success you put adult shrimp in with baby fish and as they grow they never really show much interest in the shrimp. That's my experience anyway. As long at the shrimp stay grounded and dont go swimming in the open space/ near the surface, the fish leave them alone.
My last you tube video gives you an idea.

Mollies will take shrimp, especially if they haven't grown up with them.

Im buying a shrimp tank next weekend.
We think 25 or 40 litre?
Also im gonna be that annoying question guy now. I know live plants are essential but sand or gravel?
I have both but worried the light sand will leave the shrimp to dull their colour after some reading.
Also other than the odd algae wafer what do yall feed your shrimp. Im getting a huge range of differing opinion

As long as there's plenty of hiding spaces it shouldn't really matter about sand, as long as it's not the white stuff, so for shrimp you could use either sand or gravel.
There are specific shrimp foods, as well as fresh veg and algae wafers.
