My non-aquatic tanks!

I thought I should post some pics of my other tanks!
Especially as Thistle, my dwarf hamster, is now my avatar xx
My hamsters have tanks - I have a pair of 4ft tanks and one 90cm Exo Terra tank. (Yes I know I mixed my metric and imperial there!
)
I’m a big fan of Germanic naturalistic set-ups - they emphasise the importance of creating a natural and yet enriching habitat. Digging space is much more important than previously thought so things are on ‘stilts’ to keep things safe whilst allowing for a good depth in substrate.
Sunny, my Roborovski hamsters tank:
Being a Roborovski and designed for living on sand she has a large sandy area too.
And Thistle’s tank:

Very impressive set-ups, they’ve got to be the luckiest hamsters I’ve ever seen, normally they’re just in little wire cages with a bowl & a wheel

Tbh some of the German ones are simply palatial!!
It makes me sad and even quite angry to see the tiny colourful ‘prisons’ marketed for hamsters in this country. Especially when zooplus sell such good sized cages at very cheap prices. The two tanks above were not expensive and we’re custom built and delivered to my door!
Most of my hamsters have been rescues / rehomes - often when children have got bored. They’re wonderful little animals and as with any animal / fish the better the enclosure the more natural (and thus interesting!) behaviours you’ll witness xx

It's quite refreshing to see a basically nocturnal animal rummaging around in the light.
I remember hamsters being nippy little wotsits when I was young, probably because they were kept in small cages.......

Seriously cute Hanlou
Agree with Jen, very lucky hamsters indeed. Would you ever put another hamster in with them? The same sex to prevent lots of babies of course.
They look very happy having their own space though so I guess they might not take kindly to sharing, lol

Very nice! I was going to ask whether you ever see them with all that stuff inside but your videos have answered that question already

Very cute
I love how Thistle squeezes between the shelf and ramp, reminds me of our ferret (Smudge) and the way he used to squeeze under the sofa

Beautiful! Like aquascaping, but dry, and with hamsters
