Covid-19 vaccine

A bit of a random one.
Are you going to have vaccine if/when offered? Are you worried about it?
I’m nowhere near priority lists so for me it will be ages away, but I would take it now if I had a choice.
Someone sent me below screenshots from Twitter and I thought that was a cool way of explaining how it works.

I apologise if someone will find this language offensive and also please take it down if you think it’s not appropriate for this forum

I am a reactor, have been since I was a kid, there has been no vaccine that I have had that I didn't have some sort of reaction too, even holiday ones effect me. I am not in an at risk age or have any underlaying symptoms so I will probably not even get a chance at the vaccine before I get COVID, if I haven't had it anyway.

I personally can't wait for it. I come into category 6 so I'm not in the initial groups but it should be relatively soon. Hopefully normal life is imminent.

that was my initial thoughts, as well as the original 'you can still catch covid even if you have previously had it'. And what about this new strain? does the vaccine still work against that?

That’s the thing. I don’t know, i would have thought immunity doesn’t last that long, some say as short as three months. I’m guessing this vaccine will become an annual thing a bit like a flu one. It will always be around just mass vaccination will keep outbreaks under a bit more control to avoid pressure on Nhs I’m guessing.

I will get it as a carer for my son (I’m a higher priority I think in Scotland) but probably not for a while. I will get it though.

I don't think it will provide immunity, just the body will be more able to cope.
I shall have mine as soon as I'm called in, but that will be end of February to middle of March......

How come people are saying immunity doesn't last long with this virus. I've been immune to chicken pox for about 30 year now.

I’m not a scientist or anything so don’t quote me on that, but purely based on press and fact that people getting reinfected second time etc. Also read somewhere that antibodies remain in your body for unknown periods of time, could be couple of months and could be much longer . I suppose still very little known, especially for general public .
