Due to where your location is @Martinspuddle I would just check that someone hasn't accessed your router and is nicking your bandwidth, maybe check the wheels are still on the bottom whilst there

Back to the problem in hand ...turns out there a lot of work going here by BT Openreach where they are upgrading all the overhead telephone lines to fibre. Talking to one of their engineers yesterday, he told that many of these overhead telephone lines haven't been updated since the 1950's, some earlier than that. BT have informed me, we should have had a letter or email in regarding about service disruption while work is been carried out, needless to say I have had neither.
Downside all these newfangled fibre is, the new connections are not going activated until November.

Stephen..."the new corrections are not going activated until November. This phrase can be grammatically correct, in that the new fibre optics actually do require "connections."
