I listened to the unabridged audiobook read by Will Wheaton and thought it was really good.

Ready Player One was so so much better than I was expecting. I love a good easter egg but that film was just a whole other level. It was brilliant. I've not read the book though. Usually the films never live up to them although I think the Lord of the Rings films did a respectable job of it.
The Dune book was much better than the film (I still consider it a cult classic though) hopefully with all the CGI capability we have now it will look impressive.

Always thought there was a lot of bandwagoning with the critics over Lynch's Dune. It's always going to be quirky with him directing and to try to get a feel of the culture of that universe and tell the story was always a big ask. Better film than a lot of people think it is and had a unique look to it at the time which has influenced other projects that followed.
As I don't think it's been mentioned elsewhere I thought the BBC pulled the plug on Outcasts too soon, there was potential for a genuine drama/sci-fi that wasn't all 'Dr who' in approach. You expect it from US networks obsessed with advertising revenues (I notice The Passage has been killed off after 1 series) but expected more leniency from the beeb.

Star wars for me, not a big Sci-Fi fan really, loved the matrix but all of the star wars movies and the stand alone ones, I'm a super fan of, seen them all multiple times
