Just found a new Lfs near me.Nice independent shop,so I brought 3 male Odessa barbs to add to my existing ones.To my surprise these was really coloured up a nice dark red. However after a few days they have started to lose their colour. It’s normally the other way round.Checked water everything fine. They seem settled and happy.Just interested to know why.Any thoughts ?

Clean water, live food and a course of Melafix wouldn't harm ...you didn't quarantine these new fish I take it?

I haven’t got a quarantine tank.I did Melafix, tank water is spot on.Fed frozen bloodworms. They seem very settled just mystified why they lost colour.I was wondering about the shop temperature and mine could be something to do with it.
Thks.

What's your temperature, I keep my Barbs at 70 - 72°F

Also how long have you had them?

They may of been a deep red with only one another to spar with. Now they are in a new group and need to find their feet or should I say 'fins'.

Given time and the females get ripe for spawning they should colour up again.
