These what look like sores have appeared on my fish and seem to be getting worse. Does anyone know what I should do to help it? Thanks.

Are both pictures of the same fish? If they are it looks to me like it got stuck somewhere as marks on both sides of the body are in roughly the same place, also is this a new fish? If it's a fish you have had for a while and no new fish have been added to the tank recently it makes this less likely to be a disease and more likely an injury, more experienced people will be along soon and might give a different opinion, but that's what I would be thinking if it was my fish.

Welcome to the forum. :)
Sorry to see you have a problem.
To me, it looks like damage, possibly from a burn?
Does you heater have a guard?
What else is in the tank (besides danios and platies), how big is the tank, what's your water change routine, can you post the water parameters and what's the diet?
(Sorry for all the questions, but the answers will help us to rule out certain things ;) )
If at first you don't succeed....
...get someone else to do it! :D

Enjoy your fish, shrimps and snails!

Hi, thank you for the replies.

Yes the picture is the same fish and none of the fish are new. I have had all of the fish for about 1 year now without any issues. I can’t really see anywhere it would get stuck and I don’t have a heater. The tank is 50l and I change the water roughly every 2 weeks. I buy the fish food from ASDA as well as some stick on treats which I bought from the Range. The fish seems fine and is eating normally.

I appreciate any help.

I agree that it looks like damage from getting stuck somewhere. You'd be amazed at where they can get stuck, I've had it a couple of times. Do you have a pic of the whole tank and any ornaments?

As this looks like injury/damage spotless water is best for healing, I would be doing 50% changes ideally every 3/4 days to keep the background bacteria levels really low and give your fish the best chance, there are also general tonics you can try Melafix would be one, Esha 2000 is a good product but I'm not sure if it would work on sores such as this since I have never had cause to try it, but any product would be secondary to good clean water, hope your fish pulls through, if it's active that's a really good sign :)
