Mineralising RO

Hi guys,

I setup an RO system, using Seachem Equilbrium to increase general hardness and remineraliser the water. The store that sold it me said its all I needed, however I noticed KH is at zero when I test the water!! So no buffer. Should I be using an Allakine buffer to increase KH for my Aquascape. What does others do? This is a heavily planted tank with CO2 and high tech lighting.

I'm not sure of how the remineralisers work, but what are the readings for GH and ph, and what are you trying to achieve?

GH is 5, I need KH to also be 5 (0 atm). PH is 6.2. Looking for a PH of 6.5-7 but need KH of 5 so that when CO2 is injected the PH doesn't spike.

The easiest way is to just do a mix of RO and tap.

Most people end up with a 50:50, 60:40 or 80:20 mix of RO:Tap

I have very hard water 250/300 ppm GH.

That is somewhere around 14-17dGH (hard water).
Which town do you live ? The actual water hardness can be looked up.

As @fr499y states; it may be easier to mix RO water with tap water.
Using that method there is no need to remineralise the water as the minerals are in the tap water.

JUst re-opening this topic again. Wishing to mineralise RO to 6-7GH and similar KH. I am in the UK, I have no idea how to so it. Please help. I want to use this website:

Been using Seachem for the past year and whilst it works, its quite expensive and it also adds a boat load of potassium which I am not a fan of. I want to dose my own K and not leave it down to Seachem.

I've never used RO and remineralizer so I'm no help whatsoever.....
The only thing I can suggest is to see what ratio is in the Seachem stuff and use the individual ingredients in that ratio without the potassium.....???
