His tank has just been cleaned, new dark substrate (cheap generic coated gravel) and freshly boiled Catapa leaves. I think he is watching the surface where he would like a Betta pellets to appear, or a chunk of bloodworm
He might also be looking for a good spot for a bubble nest as his latest one was taken away with the old substrate.
