MISTY.... How do you add the spirulina? I added it once some time ago straight into a spare tank, and the wretched water turned deep green and lasted that colour for ages. I'd like to use it as I have a full tin left.

Its already mixed in with the food in the blister pack look up the gamma or alfa blister packs

I normally feed frozen twice a week if i can, but i am really low stocked so i’m avoiding over feeding
When we had all the platy/swordtails/plattails i fed frozen 4/5 times out of 6, with a starve day, as the variety helps with growth and development

Oh, I wasn't sure if frozen cubes could be their only food. I had it in my head that they need some of the dry stuff for a complete diet... Is that wrong?

No not necessarily, there maybe something missing in the frozen foods thats not in the dried food. It also depends on the fish and their individual diet ie carnivores would be better fed on protein foods or frozen foods more frequently
Although I’m not sure what would be missing considering what their diet may be in the wild

Will keep you posted how they get on. As long as they're healthy & happy that's the main thing. They were last ones in the shop and looked to be getting picked on by an angelfish so totally caved and took them. They seem quite happy mixing with the keyholes.

I would have preferred a group of Bolivians but I've tried it in the past and it hasn't worked for me but all appears OK just now, keyholes are nice fish too.

The Hikari sinking cichlid Gold mini and Vitalis south American cichlid pellets (alternated) would be my choice as the Bolivian Rams like to sift through the sand for their food.
Also alternate with some fresh/frozen food once or twice a week and maybe some cichlid bug bites once a week will give them a good variety of food.

24C is on the lower end of their preferred water temperature, 25/26C would be better but that depends on what other fish you have in with them.
Keyhole cichlids would be fine at 25/26C

That’s something else that can also get to dwarf cichlids, rams seem to be common, particularly blues as far as i’ve read. If the temp is too cold they can end up having issues as their bodily systems slow/shut down. I would guess it would be a bit like hypothermia in us.
