Doc settling in , also featuring a rare appearance from Mr Otto (resting on the power cord for the heater)

He looks happy with his new home. All of the fish appear to be comfortable in each others company

Mr Otto might be out and about but he's not paying his way very well, look at the state of the algae growing on the front glass... spoilt my viewing pleasure.
Nice video, Mikey.

Looking good Mikey, does your Oto hide away mine is out all the time, only survivor of the original group though so wont be getting any more, likely my own fault as did not realise at the time they prefer soft water, do try to be more careful now

Same as yourself he's the only survivor of 4 (although I can't blame the water as it is soft) , the other 3 all went in around 48 hours

that was fortunate. Came home a little earlier than expected and found the air pump turned off so no sponge filter or airstone running(and in fairness to everyone I ha omitted to mention to them to keep an eye on that) .
I suspect young Eddy had manged to get his hand on the remote I use for the air pump & heater to save me ferreting around at the back of the tank. Lesson learnt, put it out of the way!
I reckon it had been off for between 6 & 18 hours and one of the neons was up at the surface but other than that everyone looks ok. Quick water chnage to freshen it and turn it all back on.

I've also recommissioned the Aqua One filter using some coarse foam left over from setting Castle up.
Not because the air driven sponge isn't able to handle the bio load, it is quite admirably and keeping everything important at zeroes, but rather to improve the mechanical filtration.

Ok so having recommisioned the Aqua One I decided to replace it with an APS corner filter , primarily so I don't see a big square box in there
Old & New side by side
With a little rearrangement of the bog wood + ferns you hardly see the new filter (in the RH corner) the heater (just above the airbubbles slightly left of centre) or the main sponge filter (RH corner)
(residents doing their usual thing of hiding after any disturbance)
