Hi all,

Not the clearest pictures unfortunately but but does this look like a slime parasite on one of my Keyholes? If so what's the best treatment? Just finishing a course of sterazin think it could help?

The fish did come with a chunk out of it's dorsal fin (at least I think it did didn't notice it before) not sure if it's related or not.

Is it likely to be contagious?

Sorry - this is unrelated, but could you please tell me what your substrate is?

Are you sure there's no damage just there?
The pics are all unfortunately too blurred to make out slime, but that normally happens all over the fish.
Aloe vera can cause it, so if there's any in the conditioner you use don't overdose.
If it occurs naturally it's as an escape mechanism, so the fish would be stressed somehow, usually from a predator.

It's weird because even when it swims right by you it's not immediately visible, but at certain angles it catches your eye. I wonder if it is just damage.

I have the single dwarf gourami (think it's a female) in there that has spells of closely following the cichilids around (and they clearly don't like it) but it's not like targeted aggression or chasing but it's probably not helping.

The only thing I add to the water is a couple drops of prime during a water change, and sterazin in the last week to sort of some flicking behaviour from the corys.

Prime doesn't have aloe, so that's ok.
It could be that the Sterazin has disturbed something dormant.
