I broke at least three of them on the 'old' forum ; they are probably still convalescing.
No-one so far has volunteered to take up the mantle here - very brave of P to step in for you (though you could have Googled it). I advise P to monitor his mental health over the next few days, just to be sure no damage has been done.

I always stuck my footballs in the pond over winter to help stop it freezing. Usually with something on the surface and the filters still running, ponds don’t freeze unless the temp drops really low.

When I were a lad we had a floating heater to keep a hole in the ice. Plugged in to the old 3 pin round screw on socket we had down the garden that powered the fountain pump.
